Hospital infections are a growing concern for patients as well as the healthcare workers who care for them. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates there are at least 2 million healthcare associated infections each year, causing 90,000 deaths and $4.5 billion in excess health care costs.

Chlorine products are effective in reducing many of today's infection risks. Both liquid (sodium hypochlorite solution, e.g., chlorine bleach) and solid (calcium hypochlorite) forms are available and when used according to product specifications, they do not stain or leave toxic residues. They are inexpensive and non-toxic at concentrations that disinfect.
