Senator Rob Portman Gets a Firsthand Look at BASF

#ACCaugust gave Senator Rob Portman a tour of BASF’s facility in Greenville, Ohio, where 142 employees work to produce clearcoat, electrocoat and resins. Clearcoat is the final coating layer on an automobile. It provides a clear, lustrous and durable finish.

Electrocoat is the first coating layer on an automobile. It provides corrosion resistance and prepares the surface for additional coating layers. The resins they make include acrylics, polyurethanes, polyesters and epoxies. The resins are used to produce a variety of coatings for automotive (both OEM and refinish) applications.

BASF is leading provider of products for the automobile industry and the company has invested more than $2.4 million in this plant and its equipment. During the tour, Senator Portman chatted with employees and visitors about energy and labor and workforce development in the Buckeye State.

Thanks for joining us during #ACCaugust, Senator Portman!
