On the road with #ACCaugust - 2015

During the August recess, our state affairs and political mobilization teams will fan out across the country to create opportunities to further our industry’s advocacy goals in a grassroots initiative we’re calling #ACCaugust. Through plant tours, in-district meetings, and industry roundtable discussions, we will meet with Members of Congress to raise awareness of the vital importance of our industry and showcase the economic benefits of the business of chemistry where it matters the most—in their districts.

I was pleased to be able to tour BASF’s facility in Malcom, Iowa. The state of Iowa values BASF’s investment in our state in both Story and Poweshiek counties. I was generally familiar with BASF’s business in the state, but was pleased to learn more about their footprint in both the automotive and construction industries, in addition to the agriculture industry. Lieutenant Governor Reynolds and I have a focus on bringing more high-quality jobs to the state and BASF is a great example of the careers that we’re eager to continue attracting. -Iowa Gov. Terry E. Site Visit at LyondellBasell in Clinton, IA, with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA)

Today’s visit was valuable in learning firsthand about LyondellBasell’s Clinton plant, as well as of their impact on the surrounding community and our great state. It was a pleasure to tour the SI Group’s manufacturing facility in Rotterdam Junction. Not only is the SI Group a major employer and contributor to our local economy, but they are a global leader in manufacturing materials that make up the consumer goods we all use every day.
