The Aliphatic Diisocyanates (ADI) Panel of the American Chemistry Council was established in 1988 and consists of the major U.S. producers of aliphatic diisocyanates. The Panel monitors regulatory and legislative actions that may affect the industry and supports scientifically sound research and advocacy on
health, safety and environmental matters. The Panel is guided by the principles of
Responsible Care®.
The Panel's primary activities include the following:
Participating in rulemaking proceedings and submission of comments on proposed regulations impacting hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), methylene dicyclohexyl diisocyanate or hydrogenated MDI (HMDI) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and their polyisocyanates.
Initiating of advocacy to address regulatory requirements that do not appear to be supported by the available scientific data;
Communicating with regulators and others to improve the accuracy and reliability of data characterizations so that future policy and regulatory actions are appropriate; and,
Working with government health agencies to study aliphatic diisocyanates.
